GuardRFID’s Seek and Follow surveillance solution marries the Argus Active RFID system and an IP-based CCTV camera system. The active RFID tracking and location system is integrated with the camera system and video management server using the Argus middleware. The Seek and Follow system triggers the recording of video either automatically upon detecting a security event of interest (exit breach or unauthorized entry into restricted areas) or upon a user-initiated request to locate and monitor a specific person or object.

Persons and objects of interest are tagged using GuardRFID’s wide selection of active RFID tags. The locating system comprises a network of GuardRFID tag reader receivers that monitor regular beacon signals from the tags enabling the Argus middleware to continuously calculate the location of tagged people and objects. Upon triggering, the system seeks out the person or object of immediate interest switching the video feed to the camera best covering the field of view for that person or object. The system follows the person or object moving throughout the system by continously switching to the best camera. The system can also control a PTZ camera to follow a tag moving within its area of coverage. The system automatically displays and records security events and ensures continuous information collection as tags move throughout the system. Seek and Follow gives security personnel a new and unprecedented degree of situational awareness ensuring that appropriate action can be taken immediately in response to security events.
