During the course of our various projects and activities, GuardRFID frequently gathers and uses personal information. Anyone from whom we collect such information should expect that it will be carefully protected and that any use of, or other dealing with, this information is subject to consent. GuardRFID’s privacy practices are designed to achieve this.

Defining personal information

Personal information is any information that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual. This information can include a business contact information and certain publicly available information, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers as published in telephone directories, are not considered personal information.

Information in the public domain is not subject to privacy legislation and as such is not included in this policy.

Where GuardRFID customers and clients use their home contact information as business contact information, GuardRFID considers that the contact information provided is business contact information and is not therefore subject to protection as personal information.

GuardRFID observes the following practices when collecting, maintaining and using personal information:

Consent

An individual’s consent is required regarding the collection and proposed use of personal information when information is collected. Consent can be either express or implied and can be provided directly by the individual or by an authorized representative. GuardRFID’s websites use persistent cookies within visiting browsers to enable the functions of the website and for tracking performance. Specifically, cookies are used the following ways:

Third-party social media

The use of social media by GUARDRFID is an extension of its Web presence. Social media accounts are public and not hosted on GUARDRFID servers. Google Analytics

Web analytics involves the collection, analysis, measurement and presentation of data on website traffic and on visits, for the purpose of understanding and optimizing Web use. GUARDRFID uses the information for its own internal statistical and analytical purposes, to evaluate and enhance users’ experience of the website by identifying customer preferences and trends that we may use for marketing purposes and to further develop our business and operations.

When your computer requests a GUARDRFID Web page, GUARDRFID collects the following types of information, for web analytics, such as:

  • the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer;
  • the date and time of your request;

GUARDRFID uses Google Analytics, and the data gathered are sent to Google, an external service provider. Your IP address is anonymized before being saved on the Google server, in order to safeguard your Personal Information. The data gathered are anonymized by truncating your computer’s IP address. No Personal Information identifying you is saved or provided to Google.

Google Analyticsuses temporary and permanents cookies; permanent cookies are stored on your computer and expire two years after your last visit to the website. Security Safeguards

Personal information gathered by GuardRFID shall be kept in confidence. GuardRFID personnel shall be authorized to access personal information based only on their need to deal with the information for the reason(s) for which it was obtained.

Appropriate physical and electronic measures shall be used to ensure personal information is secure. Access to donor and volunteer records shall be limited to those who require such information to fulfil their job responsibilities.
