Vancouver, BC, Canada August 6, 2020 — Guard RFID Solutions Inc., a leading provider of real-time location systems (RTLS), today announced that it has been identified as a Sample Vendor in the Gartner Hype Cycle for Internet of Things, 20201 and the Hype Cycle for Frontline Worker Technologies, 20202. GuardRFID® was named in the Indoor Location for People Tracking category in both reports.

According to the reports, “Enterprises that need to use location information for people tracking including line-of-business vertical markets such as retail, healthcare and the service sectors such as real estate, should evaluate the indoor positioning technology capabilities and business cases. Safety use cases in manufacturing factories or distribution centers may require granular location as well as movement (direction) data in order to prevent collisions.”

Using the GuardRFID RTLS solution, organizations have the flexibility to deploy one solution across their facility to track and protect people and assets without the need to install new infrastructure or software. Offering security, safety, and functionality in one complete system, it includes both long-range location and instant choke-point detection because of its dual frequency — 433 MHz and 125 kHz — implementation.

Gartner VP, Analysts, Tim Zimmerman and Annette Zimmermann said in the report: “Technologies such as Wi-Fi are used for proximity tracking where the use case does not require granularity. Frequencies such as 13.56 MHz, passive UHF, BLE or UWB are often used for zonal tracking when they are integrated into ID tags, wristbands or security badges that detect where employees are at a specific time and date. Other frequencies such as 433 MHz will go through the human body and are best when maintaining contact is imperative.”

GuardRFID Vice President Technology and Product Strategy, Marek Dutkiewicz, said, “Lower frequencies, such as 433 MHz, offer many advantages including smaller and lighter tags that have a longer battery life. In addition, the GuardRFID system can be scaled to operate in high-density tag deployments. Rapid system response times, no matter how many tags are deployed, ensure that critical alarms are always detected.”
